Melissa Peneycad

Melissa is a senior executive with deep expertise in sustainability. Driven by purpose, she is a globally recognized authority with 20 years of experience in embedding the principles of sustainability into organizational practices, infrastructure, and Public-Private Partnerships.
Melissa’s work spans several sectors including education, energy, land remediation, healthcare, housing and commercial real estate, transportation, and water/wastewater. Her portfolio of projects is collectively worth more than US$200 billion in sustainable development. This includes the more than 95 projects she has evaluated, prepared, and designed in the past 10 years.
She has supported organizations (private, public, non-profit) and projects to improve and communicate their sustainable performance through the application of best practices, reporting on progress, and improving stakeholder engagement. Melissa uses leading tools and frameworks to support her work – some of which she played a leading role in developing – including the United Nation’s Economic Commission for Europe’s PPP and Infrastructure Evaluation and Rating System (PIERS) and the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure’s Envision framework.
Melissa has a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Queen’s University), a master’s in environmental studies (York University), a graduate diploma in business and environment (York University), and a post-graduate certificate in leading diversity, equity, and inclusion (Northwestern University).
